HH Half Breed Arrow Set-up Input?

Gents,
For the first time I am entering into the world of tuning aluminium arrows (previously I've always gone with carbon) and I'm having some difficulty finding the sweet spot for my Half Breed.
Bow is 66 inch, (marked) 52@28 and cut 1/16th from centre (+ strike plate). I draw a TRUE 25.5 - 25.75 inches. Brace height 6 1/4, nock height +1/8th
Arrows are 1916's.
Right now I'm shooting the arrows at 28.75 inches and getting decent but occasionally erratic arrow flight with 175gr tips. When bareshafting I get a distinct weak arrow with 200 - 225gr points but from there I can drop from 175 to 125 without the arrow showing stiff or the irregular flight disappearing in my fletched arrows. The lighter I go in point weight seems to actually push the arrows farther right of my point of aim (I shoot right handed).
Any thoughts on what the issue might be here? I have considered my release but super clean or sloppy doesn't seem to matter.
Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, when budgets allow I'm hoping to pick up some woods but I'm working with what I have for the time being. I am impressed with how simple it is to adjust length with wood and aluminum over carbon that's for sure.

1816 might do the trick, or if you can try 1716.

Rossco, I ran some numbers thru calculator and what you need, without knowing type of string, is to cut the arrow down 1/4" at atime than see how it shoots. Depending on type of string,FF or Dacron, you should start seeing improvement at 28.5" of arrow length. I would reccomend you use the weight head you want to shoot to do this. By the way Hill bows are normaly cut 3/16" from canter including plate.

sometimes the arrow pushes right for a righty, when it is way to stiff. It gets it feather end kicked out with bow contact. For a 45 or 46 pound at 25.75 draw a 40 pound spine with a 160 head cut to 27" would work with a cedar shaft and still act stiff with a comparable aluminum shaft when the softer releases occur. For the 1916 with 200 grains up front, for me that would be a 160 grain broadhead with a 38 grain adapter at my 26&1/4" draw and would shoot out of a 50 at 26" longbow cut to 27" bop. For your 45 pounds at your draw a 28" 1916 would be close, I always find that Hills under 50 pounds with the shorter draw are simply easier to find the right thing with cedar arrows. I would recommend getting a fletcher and slap together your own wood arrows. You don't need to make them fancy, you just need to get them consistent, it is quite easy to learn and will save money.
