Here's my thought:
I have one of my first quivers I made. It's been modified, and tinkered with many times, but it's still got lots of use, but I've made myself a few new ones and I've kinda retired the old one. I got to thinking that they're probably others just like me out there. And it would be great to throw everyones name in a hat and draw out and send our old quivers to each other. It would be neat and an honor for me to get to use someone elses quiver. Wonder about it's exploits, the woods it has traveled, storms it's weathered, what made that scratch, etc.
I'm not saying to go out and buy a new one for the swap, or to make a new one just for the swap. (I'll leave that up to you).
I'll tell you a little about my quiver, so maybe you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about:
I call my my quiver, (yea, I named it), ol' #13. The wood spine started out on quiver#2 which was a rawhide quiver, and I replaced the maple/walnut spine with river cane. Then I redesigned my quivers several times. And ol' #13 was close to my final design. I started to put a new wood spine on it. But remembering that the number coming up was #13, I got to thinking nobody would want him. So I decided to keep him for myself. (Being a Christian, I also had thoughts of someone else being rejected). So, I thought: well, if I'm not going to sell #13, I'll just put the spine from #2 on him. And so, I've had lot's of fun carrying ol' #13 around. Practicing in the yard, hunting here and there.
As my quiver #'s started nearing 75, I started numbering my quivers differently a year or so ago. And now I have a #D13, and a #SD13. So, #13 is seeing a lot of time just hanging on the wall. But he has a lot he'd like to share.
So whatcha think? Ya wanna chunk yore name in the batch and swap one of your old sentimental quivers too?
Here's Ol' #13 (arrows not included), waiting for a new owner:
Oh, and let's here the story about your quiver too!
