That's a cool list you put together!  What day will you be at the hunt?

I will only be able to make a day trip out of it.

I will be leaving early on Saturday morning and hopefully showing up around 10am.  Ill stay for as long as I feel comfortable about the 3 hr drive back.  Or I might just sleep in my truck.  Nothing I havent done before.  It will be much too short of a time anyway.  Looking forward to meeting all you fellas.

Man I went to Shawn Leonard's St Judes rabbit hunt yesterday. What a blast. My luck may be changing so those pigs may be in trouble.

I batted .500 10 shots and 1 rabbit! Ha!

It was great meeting other Tradgangers there. I can't wait to meet everyone. I feel like I know many of you. It is the people that makes this site great.

I've got a load of firewood ready to bring over for you guys and girls. At least it will be enough to get you started anyway.  Now I just have to figure out how to get from Hawkinsville to tract 2.

Well folks looks like I'm out this year  :(

This is usually a slow time of year for me but...Like I always say, when work is slow just make some personal plans and the work spring up and get in the way. In the early stages of a new building going up and I MUST be there to get Electrical stuff in the block walls as they go up, they wait for no one.

So I'll just be thankfull for winter work (scarce at times) and hope you guys take a bunch of pictures.

So everyone hunt & travel safe and have a Big Time and if time permits kill a hog!

Eric

I'm packed and bought tags. Looks like Sunday may hold the best weather so I'm gonna break camp in the morning but hunt that day too.

Any other MLA members going other than    Paul and I?

The weather isn't looking good. What is the local forecast calling for in Cochran. It looks like rain Friday and Saturday?

I may have to change my plans to come down earlier and leave early. I have two days of driving and can't stay too long.

I have all this wood to split between now and next week and logging to do on my farm. But if nothing else I would like to meet all you guys and gals I communicate with on Tradgang. I am just trying to figure out the best days to come down.

URGENT question here guys... I just spoke with Georgia DNR and the lady on the phone said I would be good to hunt by purchasing a 3 day Apprentice Hunting licence and THAT'S IT.

Seems contrary to the information posted previously. Can anyone advise?

Thanks!

From
 http://www.eregulations.com/georgia/hunting/general-hunting-information/

"Apprentice Hunter is any person who has not successfully completed a hunter education course or does not possess a hunter education certificate. Apprentice hunters may purchase an Apprentice Hunting License for the privilege to hunt and fish in Georgia."

Does that help? I bought WMA and a 3 day per the first post in this thread.

I dunno? I'm licenced in ontario, don't know what recognition that gets in Georgia.

She said the 3 day apprentice allows me to hunt small game and hogs and also gives WMA privileges. I don't know if there's restrictions on it or what?

Thom, the hunt is actually questionable for me now.  I checked the forecast last night, just before I was going to purchase my licenses online, and I saw that the chances of rain went up.  Hunting on Sunday is not an option for me because I have to be back to work on Monday.  Right now they're calling for rain on Friday and Saturday, and possible thunderstorms on Friday.  I don't have rain gear, and I don't really want my bow, arrows, leather quiver and other accoutrements exposed to rain.  That's a long way to travel and a lot of gas money for a hunt that's likely to be rained out.  I'm looking forward to the hunting as much as I'm looking forward to the social aspect of this hunt, but unless the forecast improves I'll probably pass.

I checked the detailed forecast for the weekend. There is a chance of showers but they're calling for negligible accumulation. Hopefully the forecast will clear though....
