Thanks for the heads up Paul. You're right the weather doesn't look great, but I've hunted pigs in the rain and the snow before. Both are far better than any day working!

I may have to enjoy this hunt with a modern quiver and outer garments. Probably not my prettiest longbow for the field portion either.

Those are cool pics Damon!

I just called the DNR again, apparently the 3 day apprentice licence is all that's needed - no need for the WMA or GORP licences as its included on the apprentice tag. Certainly saves some money.

Just kinda worried about getting the right thing, being in law enforcement it'd be pretty embarrassing if I was found to be hunting illegally due to ignorance.....

Does anyone have a feel if some hunters may stay later into next week? This sounds like an awesome gathering just couldn't make it this weekend due to work. I do have next week off. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks guys! Jim

Just got back from a family camping trip.  Unloaded and reset the gear and have reloaded alot for the trip.  Two days until I leave.

I am going to play this one by ear due to the weather. I hate to miss it, but because of the weather I may cancel.

I can't leave until Friday and have to come back on Sunday. It looks like this may be a wash out for me.

I wanted the chance to meet everyone more than the hunting, but the weather is getting progressively worse.

Not to dampen anyones expectation but there will not be any swamphunting unless you have a snorkel. The Ocmulgee is wayyyy out of the banks. The pigs will be up in the thick stuff on the hills.
Honestly I have been so sickly this year if its raining and cold I will not go.RC

What area would be good to hit RC in case you don't make it and help guide us rookies??  :)

Even better so I won't have to resist crossing the slough to see whats on the other side.

Wouldn't the rainy weather and high water make the hunting for those swamp pigs better? Did anyone see the dinosaur in the pics earlier in these posts?

I hope the weather improves, if not it will be like training for hunting in Alaska minus the grizzlies. LOL

Well, unfortunately I'm calling it, which is devastating since I've been looking forward to this hunt for over a year.  I even created the t-shirt design and won a set of the HH raffle arrows.  I've been prepping for weeks, and I've been breaking in a new pair of waterproof snakeboots that I acquired just for this hunt.  But I normally never hunt in the rain unless I'm inside my blind.  Like I said in an earlier post, I don't have rain gear.  Plus my only Hill bow is a fancy,  expensive, 'special edition' model, and I don't want everything else that is wood and leather getting soaked either.  It is just too late to try to outfit myself for hunting in the rain now, and I wish I had thought to prepare for that possibility earlier.

The latest   forecast  says there is potential for thunderstorms and heavy rain for Friday, and it looks like mostly rain for Saturday.  Sunday looks good for those of you who can stay.

Would someone please tell Jeff Schulz that I'd like to donate my (2) XL shirts to hunters who attend the hunt but didn't get in on the order?  I'd appreciate it.

Happy hunting to all, and now I'll echo the sentiments of many others who won't be there...please take lots of pictures.

I told my wife this morning while we were watching the weather "I'm going come hell or high water!" she then replied "looks like the high water is going to happen"

I got rubber boots and I'll get a pancho and hope for the best!
