Bud, yes it is. Hiway 96 east out of Bonaire. Oaky Woods is on the west side of the river and Oakmulgee is on the east side. HWY 96 runs across the northern end of the WMA's.

Like RC said before, a canoe would be handy as the WMA's are right across the river from each other VS a half hour drive up and around.

Probably the closest town to Ocmulgee is Hawkinsville. Thats where I usually run for supplies or Cochran. There is a nearby Country store for Ice sodas and stuff. It is also a meat processer and sells smoked meat.
Guill the pics are kinda scattered in time.It has been dry enough here the last 4 years that I sold my River boat with a Mercury power and bought two yaks. BUT...it can flood with one hard rain. Thats the reason I chose this place instead of Buffalo Swamp in Darien which probably has better hunting but if at flood stage there is no place to hunt. Ocmulgee and Oaky Woods have a lot of high ground. A Swamp full of water is a plus hog hunting cause it narrows them up some.RC

Thanks RC. What about the weather in February. In my area I can see temps between 40 above and 10 below. I can also see two feet of snow one day and have it washed away two days later by rain and warm temperatures.

I went to Florida once is March and couldn't believe when I went it was below 30 in the morning and 70 during the day.

I am just wondering what to expect in regard to hunting clothes and if you get a lot of rain that time of year.

Thanks again

I do spend most of my time in Tract one and all over Magnolia creek.
The weather can be as you said. Two years ago I camped a few days in Febuary and it was 24 at night and 60 during the day. Common would be maybe 35-60 a big swing for you Northerners I know. In really cold temps I never see pork till after 10:00 then all day is good. I usually sleep in and hunt from 11 till dark on very cold days.

I`ve not spent a lot of time on Oaky Woods but have seen pigs every time I`ve been there but once. The locals I know say it has more hogs but is a bit tougher because it has more hills and thick cover. For a slow hunting patient huner this could be good.RC

Hey folks, ive been looking into legal broadhead sizes since some states have a minimum width. The info. that ive found states that the arrow just requires a broadhead with no min. size. Is this correct?

Scratch me off the list. Upon further reading, the Bamabow I ordered apparently doesn't qualify as "Hill style." I just assumed they were. I thought "Hill" bows were just straight longbows. I'm new to wheeless bows.  :D

If a bama straight limb won't qualify, you will have to take me off the list too.  I'm going anyway though, I just may have to camp outside the ring with a few more rejects!    :biglaugh:

When a few of the guys on the Hill Thread started talking about planning a hunt together, we wanted to make the hunt exclusive to Hill style bows only. For those of us that hunt with Hill style bows, there's also a passion for everything Hill, the bows, the backquiver, the broadheads, Hill's books, and Hill's acheivements. Because of Hill's books and video's, he has been a mentor and hero to many of us.

If your bows limbs are straight, reflex or stringfollow, it's ok. Come down to Georgia, sit next to the fire, share your favorite stories, meet some new friends, and enjoy 3 whole days of hunting Hill style.
