Lookin' forward to heading east from Texas and getting to meet everyone. I have a dilemma though. Should I bring my Hill Tembo, my Northern Mist, my Belcher Union Jack or my Miller Expedition? Decisions, decisions, decisions......What's  feller to do? Oh, one other thing, my Dave Johnson Red Cedar longbow will be ready in another month if the 113 degree temps break in Oklahoma. Another decision.....

I'd say bring them all, but which one will you hunt with?   :dunno:

Darren -

Probably my Tembo, but I've really taken a shine to the Miller since it arrived last Wednesday.

I'm in Ontario so directly north of New York state. My house is about 4 hours due north from Syracuse.

Somehow we should get a list of rh and lh bows that are making the trip. That way we can plan out which bows we want to try and maybe hook up before hand. I guess this applies to anyone who would be willing to let others try out their bows.

One of the reasons for making the trip, right?  I mean, we leftys don't get to try out a lot of bows.

Exactly! I have a few that I for sure want to try... but of course I won't be able to say no if there are any opportunities to shoot leftys.

The way I look at it, it's a great way for us to try before we buy on some bows that we've been wanting.

It'll also be a great time to test some bows side by side in real world conditions.

Ross I am in Central NJ. I will be taking my Toyota Prius. Good on gas. It can't pack a whole lot of stuff but we are only going for a few days, but you are welcome to hook up with me. I am bringing a big cooler for the meat if we whack a few. We can bone them and throw them on block ice.

I have to double check with someone else I asked first. They said they might go. I do not think they are going to go, because they have a hunt out west for pigs around that time and if they don't you are welcome to come with me.

I will let you know for sure.

Scratch me in as well..  I have a Liberty English which is close but no cigar to a Hill style but I have a Northern Mist Shelton on the way as we speak.

If it is not already in action, I would like to volunteer to compile a list of the bows that will be there.  Let me know if I can help with this.

For you Topo map folks, I believe Ocmulgee is on the USGS Maps named Westlake Ga (product #248204)and Tarversville Ga(248273).

Oaky Wood (248165) and (248189)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Is it legal to transport firewood down here?

On second thought, is it legal to have fires on WMAs?

RC had some great input on firewood on page 31. We can collect firewood in the WMA. I plan on bringing a wood stove for my wall tent.

How do you want to work it widow? What info do you want and in what order? I'm guessing you want to spread-sheet style this?

I would like everyone who is planning on going to PM me their bows they would be bringing and their specs.

I will compile it somehow (probably a spreadsheet)  and then post it here or post a link.

I would sort it out by Makes, Models, and Weight, etc.

I can update it every few weeks as I get more information.

I would like to have this information:

RH/LH:
Make:
Model:
Weight@draw length (what is written on the bow):
Bow Length:
Grip style (straight, dished, etc):
String type used (Fastflite, Dacron, etc.):
Total laminations and what material they are:
Core Lam Material:
Backing material (bamboo, glass, etc.):

I can only store 60 PMs so I will have to keep up on it like crazy at first.

Troy-

When your finished gathering the information, I can post it on the front page of this thread.
