The rain is hit or miss. but it could be from 45 at night to 10 or less. Two years ago I camped there at this time for a week and it was around 25 at night and 45 in the day time.

That means everyone can sport their classic plaid and wool hunting attire.

I talked with Bob Burton yesterday, he is the author of "Howard Hill Collectibles". Bob was calling for information on the hunt so he can join us in February in S. Georgia.

A funny thought came to mind, since is the Hill Gang hog hunt, with Hill style bows being the bow of choice for the hunt, how many of you will be using Hill heads?

That happens to be the head that shoots best for me.

IMHO, Hills are hard to beat, they fly true and get the job done in short order.
Glad to see there will be some other Hill head shooters at the gathering.

Just got off the phone with Gerogia DNR and licensing agents.

Three Day GORP - $3.50

Three Day hunting License - $20.00

Wildlife Management Area Hunting License - $73.00 annual. No three day is offered.

If you Georgians see any discrepancy in this please chime in.

I spoke with a very helpful lady at 478-751-6415 who in turn conferred with an enforcement officer who was in the office. These are the requirements and fees for non-residents.

From the Georgia Wildlife website:

Purchase, Reprint and Obtain Licenses and Recreational Passes
Three ways to obtain your license or pass

Online | Purchase, reprint or obtain a free hunting/fishing license or pass online

License Agent | Find an Agent in Your County
Telephone | 1.800.366.2661 (M-F from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and S-S from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

Be sure to enter your email address when buying or reprinting a license. We will email a renewal reminder before your annual license expires. Renew early and save $2.75 on your annual license!

*Trouble Printing Your License Online?  If you click on “Print License Document” and receive a file loading message but it does not complete, try pressing the Refresh Symbol button in your Internet Browser (F5 in Windows).

If you fellas plan on this to be an every year event you can have the hunt a week earlier next year and still use the same license. RC

For those of you who hunt that area, what type of boots do you recommend?  Will any rubber boots do, or are there certain styles that perform better in the mud?  How long should the uppers be?  Are 'snake proof' boots recommended?

I used rubber boots for years but I found that the bayou boots are the best. Their snake proof plus they're light and comfortable.

I have these in the lace up model.

Haven't spent anytime in the swamp areas.  Do we need boots that tall?  Or will LL Bean boots work?
