Question for you guys that live in Georgia : Whats the population of Grouse and Squirrels like on the WMA. I might get hungry while I'm down there! I plan on camping there for a week and am wondering how the chances are of a Grouse or Squirrel dinner.

I don't live in GA but am fairly confident in saying that you won't find any Grouse in the south GA swamps….  Might be some in the mountains (?)  Squirrels should be plentiful and you might (I doubt it though) find a covey of Quail.

Lots of squirrels to shoot at but the grouse are only in the mountains. If you get real hungry there is an armadillo behind every bush.

Are thermocells or snake boots recommended? What other gear would you think might be needed?

I use the bayou boots, the weather should be cold enough that you won't need the thermocell.

I hope everyone brings a compass or GPS, don't want to lose anyone.

That's when we get together for next year's hunt in the Rockies. Maybe different time of year though.

Grouse? Hey, what do I know I'm from NY! Read Georgia has grouse, but am not familiar with its ecosystems. Tree Rat dinner it is.   :bigsmyl:

Chasing tree rats is about as much fun as a feller can have legally! Since i kind of anticipated that, i went ahead and finished out some of my shafts with Game Nabber heads.... Bring on the bushy tails!

Just to clarify, tree rats are still in season in GA?  In VA, the season closes end of january. I'd love to get a couple more this season.
