Bud-
thanks man. Yeah, I had my Northern Pine arrows ready, tipped with 125 grs Magnus heads weighing 590 grs total. Was shooting them quite well out of my Jerry Hill longbow.   :archer2:
Looking forward to seeing pics here.

Vincent-

I was looking forward to doing some hunting with too, but I know it's a far trip for you, and stuff like work and family come first.

We already started talking about a hunt next year, it would be great if you can come.

How far is that 3-D target you're shooting in the picture?

We'll guys I just got off the phone with Bob Wesley, it doesn't seem like he will be able to make the hunt but he said wishes he could.

I told him that if he can just show up for one day it would be a privilege to have him amongst us.

Bob said he knows that we're going to have a great time and we are keeping the traditional spirit alive!

Yes he does, he was telling me that he's still teaching. I would like to hang-out with Bob for an evening shooting arrows Hill style.

And so the countdown begins! 19 days before my old truck heads south to set up camp, break out the Hills and hunt some hogs!
Its been a long time coming, but well worth the wait.
Sorry to read about those who had to cancel, as we were all looking forward to enjoying the fellowship of each and every one. You folks may be missing the hunt, but we will all in turn be missing out on the great opportunity of meeting and spending time with each and everyone of you.

Any chance you that are bringing campfire cookware racks can post up some pics of your forged iron rack setups? I'm going to fire up the coal forge and make some for myself and wanted to see what ideas are out there. I have a few in my head and from seeing other setups but just in case you have a few pics...

Thanks.

I'm bringing MREs to eliminate the need for any cooking equipment.  I'll also have some homemade venison jerky and trail mix for hunting   :)  .

Started some forge work for cooking hardware today. Made some S hooks and a few trammels. Then an old lawnmower blade caught my attention. I beat on it a while, did a few hot cuts, beat on it some more, and did some filing.

A little mini hatchet head appeared after a while. It'll be a good hunting and camp companion.

I wish I could master forge welding. It escapes my efforts. I usually burn up the metal. Coal is nice but not as controllable as gas.

Thanks guys

Well I just got one more thing done towards the trip to Hog heaven. I finished fixing up my Coleman two burner camp stove. Coleman two mantle lantern needed a new generator and mantles. Finished my arrows last week. Now all I have to do is set up my dinning canopy so I can enclose it with the right size tarps. Look out pigs, here we come!   :bigsmyl:
