Hi Knawbone,

The directions on a website about the WMA (   http://www.ohranger.com/ga/ocmulgee-wildlife-management-area-public-fishing-a  ) say: From Cochran: Take U.S. 23 north, turn left on Red Dog Farm Road; go 4 miles to Magnolia Road. Turn right and follow signs to check station.

Looking at Mapquest, Cochran looks much closer than Hawkinsville.  In fact, as you head north from Cochran, there is another town, Royal, on U.S. 23, not far before you turn left onto Red Dog Farm Rd.  If you look up directions on Mapquest from your place to Royal, GA, it should get you almost exactly where you need to be.  I've been told that Royal, GA doesn't show up on GoogleMaps...it must be small.

I hope that helps.

I'm bringing mine.  Based on early posts I thought the campground was pretty much on the river, but they say it is about a mile away.  There is a boat launch ramp in another area of the WMA, but I'm going to scout and see if there is a place to put my canoe in closer to the campground.  Hunting across the river might get us away from the 'crowd' a bit.

@Knawbone

Sorry I didn't see your post until just now. There's a WMA area that opened hog during small game so I went out hunting and camping for two days. Unfortunately I didn't see any hogs, but I did come across some friendly deer. They let me walk up to them with 30yards, and they even posed for a picture. I posted pics on the Hill thread.

RC will be there the week before, and Jesus(Rushlush) will be there on Wednesday.

I bought my license to start hunting on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, that will allow me time to meet everyone on Sunday.

I don't worry much with snakes.  If you move slow enough to hunt then you move slow enough to avoid snakes.

Its what you are used to as to how much over precaution you take.  I know that if I was in black bear country that I would always be looking over my shoulder where some of yall wouldn't pay it any mind and just go about your business.

I feel bad for all you guys going on this hunt.

Once those pigs hear I am coming they are all going to migrate north to Ray Hammonds place.

Don't worry though, I am going to Ray's later in the year and they will migrate back once they hear I am coming to Ray's.

I should change my handle to Pig Repellent!
