Rain Coat Sleeve problem

I was at a shoot this weekend and it started to rain so I put on my Mossy Oak rain coat, whereas some others near drowned. It took 3 targets before I figured out why my shooting went haywire. The string was slapping up side the rain coat near my bicep.I had an armguard on but it was useless in the upper arm. Maybe I will get one of those elastic bands to put around the bicep to prevent this. Needless to say I near drowned too cause I had to take the coat off..shooting pride don't you know.

Hey Rick.  I had that same problem years ago.  A compression sleeve from Cabela's solved it.  It comes in different camo patterns, and fits snugly over your rain coat, keeping it tight to your arm.  You don't even notice you have it on.  Hope that helps.

How is your "normal" stance?????

I found that when I stand faceing 90 degrees away from the target I have always had string/clothing problems.

When I stand faceing 45 degrees away I never have any problems.

I have been shooting faceing 45 degrees away for MANY years now.

I second the compression sleeve, I used one last bow season and never needed my arm guard either.

I made an extra long arm guard which I use to cover heavy/baggy clothing.  Belive it's about 14-16 inches long, bending at the inside of the elbow and extending up the arm about 5-6 inches.

When I stillhunt, I usually wear a backpack, and the straps under the arms keep the upper jacket sleeves out of the way.

Compression straps also work nice.  Can make one easily out of a piece of elastic.  Even a couple wraps of parachute cord will do it, but less likely to stay in place.

I bought one, thinking it was the answer. But, it's so tight I can't get it above my elbow. I'm a big guy...but not that big! Try it on before you buy one.

Cut the toe out of a woman's knee high nylon stocking....preferably with the woman not wearing them at the time....but seriously guys. I've been using those for years and they are cheap and work excellent!

Inside the pocket of my rain coat is a piece of parachute cord that I use to tie my coat sleeve out of the way while I'm wearing it and shooting. A strap with velcro works well also.   Pat

I agree with the pantyhose suggestion.  It works great and looks slimming.  You can even get them in camo:

Boy talk about the Robinhood look in camo!    I wonder if the make the knee high stocking in camo...i gotta have some of those for arm guards, or sleave control...

Buy those and a camo Teddy for your wife for Valentine's Day or your anniversary and when she throws them at you, put them to better use.
