How do you carry all your turkey hunting gear?
« on: February 12, 2012, 11:48:00 AM »
So I bought a new DB Matrix blind for turkey season this year. I like the new bags as they have shoulder straps and pockets for a chair and ground stakes. However my question is how do you carry all the extra gear(bow, arrows, calls, decoys,supplies for a long sit, extra)? I was debating on getting a larger Cat Quiver with pockets to carry the calls but that would make it hard to carry the blind.

with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20

I use a RackPack chair that I strap the blind, decoys, etc too... as far as my calls, i carry them in a n old WW2 gas mask bag that I also strap to the RackPack...

Leaves me to carry my bow w/quiver in hand...

When I used to turkey chase, I would put the decoys in a duck decoy bag(mesh) and my seat folded up and went in the bag also. The calls went into my cargo pocket.

put it all in a mesh or cloth stash bag and strap it to the blind.  Same with that quiver if you want it, just strap it on.  Try it on for size before the am you are going out though. I had one rig that rode so low in the back (the DB) that my feet kept hitting it as I walked and I almost couldn't walk right.

GFA haversack and inflatable dekes. I also narrowed my call selection to a hoot tube and a few diaphrams.

Blind Hog, one of the best investments I have made.  I carry a recurve model DB, two chairs, calls, snacks, binos, camera, water, decoys, stakes and anything else my daughter and I think we will need for a long sit.  I can ever strap a gun or bow to it as it has a pocket and strap system for that too, although, with my hands freed up, I usually keep my bow in my hand.

Don't use a blind, only wear a ghillie suit; nothing else compares; turkey will walk in mere feet and never spook; watch closely, DON'T MOVE, and draw only when tom turns his strutting tail to you; have killed several using this method;

Lot a love for the Rack Pack, I also argree. I have one and it's amazing. Just like some of the others have said, you can strap a lot of gear onto this thing.  Also I bought a primos turkey vest, the elite I think, I took the seat off it, and took the decoys out of it, and can carry the rack pack just fine.   God bless.

I usually have the blind, chair, and decs in the blind bag and a Badlands Monster fanny pack for calls & lunch.  Bow is in my hand with a bow quiver.  With the older single strap blind bags, I can carry it slung so that it sits on top of the big fanny pack which takes some weight off the strap.

I have also just used a big a internal frame pack.  Way easier on the shoulders.

I carry my blind and stools in the blind bag it came with. It has shoulder straps. Everything else I carry in my old turkey vest. I've tried backpacks, but always go back to my old vest. I know where everything is when I need to lay hold of it.

A game cart works great for hauling the gear in and the gear and turkey out. (Don't forget the turkey adds more weight and bulk!)
