Stumpin' with the eagles (pic heavy)

Today it warmed up to the mid 20's which felt great as yesterday was very cold here in Wisconsin. The boys an I decided to take advantage of the "warmth" and go for a stump shoot.
We started in a valley that doesn't get very much light and still held some snow, overall the winter has been pretty mild here.
After a few shots in the valley we started to climb up and up until we reached a beautiful limestone outcropping. There was a perfect tree to catch our breath on, then we did a little more shooting.

We decided to grab a drink and have a snack, it looks like we weren't the only ones to have a snack here.
After our break we worked our way around the limestone working our way up to the top.
The formations were pretty interesting.
It was pretty funny watching the boys scramble for arrows on some of the shots.

Jay, you sure have a way of making me home sick.
Cool pictures.
I have fond memories of climbing the sand/limestone bluffs and exploring "caves" as a kid.

We made it to the top! It was kind of icy up here so we didn't go all the way out to the edge but the view was spectacular.
After sitting up top for a few minutes we shot our way back down and had a candy bar.

With our belly's full it was time to head back to the truck.
On the way out we saw a pair of eagles up on the bluff. It was a perfect way to end a great stump shoot.

That looks like a great way to spend the day with your kids. Great to see kids outdoors and not playing video games.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, we really have a great time on our stump shoots.
