Right now I am shooting "light for me" 63# @29"
After years of research I determined that you reach the point of diminishing returns at approximately 60#. The only reason to shoot heavier is to shoot VERY heavy arrows reasonably well. But a 58 - 64# bow with a 600 grain arrow will shoot through almost any animal given a sharp broadhead and a well placed arrow. I shoot around 700 grain arrows(3555 GTs front loaded with almost 400 grains) out of the 63#@29" Crooked Stic Longbow with remarkable results. 160 - 175 fps(depending on the chrono) and penetration that is astounding.

I've settled on between 50-54. Just had three pounds let out of a 56# bow I had taking it down to 53#. Discovered I would pluck it once in a while.
Right now I have a 50#, 51#, and a 54# with a 53# in the works.

I shot 60-70#s for quite a while, I have settled down to between 47-55#s. If my shoulders allowed me, I would still shoot 60 plus though. Shawn
