Hello.. and Help needed.

This is my first post as a newbie on tradgang, as well in the amazingly addicting sport and lifestyle of traditional archery...

I was originally a compound shooter/hunter BUT.. NO MORE! The trad wolf has bitten me and I do not plan on turning back!

I recently acquired an old Bear Cub recurve, its 62" 50# at 28 inches. my draw length is 26's. I plan on shooting a Grizzly Kodiak 200 with a 100 grain adapter and 50 grain insert (want to bump up on FOC)

So what i need help on is..... with a CX Heritage shaft, should i shoot the 150 or 250?.... with a lot of weight added up front like that i'm guessing it will weaken the 150 shaft.. so should i go with the 250?

I would go with the 250. With that much weight up front I am thinking it will be about the right spine.

I dont shoot carbons, but at 26" draw you should be around 45lb draw.A 55-60lb(cut to 27 1/2 ish) Douglas Fir shaft with 160-200 grn BH would be in the ballpark.

Your drawing about 45# at 26", I would go with the 150 for sure, you may even be able to use a 90.

I shoot 48#@27 and started with the cx 150's but
found them to be too stiff. I now shoot the cx 90's with 100 grain brass inserts(have to file them down in a drill press due to shaft size)and
175 heads. install your inserts in full lenght shaft and start bare shaft tuning with the head you want and trim the nock end until you get the flight you want. mine are cut to 28 3/4. with your draw length you have plenty of room for adjustment.

In the long run I truly feel it will be in your best interest to buy a "spine test" pack of arrow shafts in whichever material you choose to shoot be it wood or carbon.

Im gonna go back and order a test pack of arrows.. Cheaper and more cost effective.
