40# will work. Just take close shots in shallow water. The no-gloges are pretty tough, and I use them WITH a glove. When shooting gets fast and furious, it makes it easier to get an arrow secured on the string when things get wet and slimey. Get a bow your not afraid to just chuck in the bottom of the lake, stream, pond, wherever your shooting so you can handle a fish, or IF by chance, you or your equipment ends up taking a dip/dunk.
been there done that!

On another dumb archery note-I always assumed that 3 Rivers Archery was in Pittsburg for some reason...then I got my order confirmation e-mail. I guess what they say about "ASSuME" is right!

I use the AMS retriver but not the "No Gloves". I use batting or golf gloves on both hands, that way I have gloves on to handle the gator/fish   :bigsmyl:

I ordered an old Ben Pearson Stallion that is probably going to be my bow fishing bow.

Will it harm the bow to get it wet or will it be ok as long as it doesnt stay wet for long? It too is a pretty bow like my Browning and I can put up with scratches and dings and mud and other nasty stuff getting on them but I dont want to ruin them

Dalbo413

I picked up a Sage for bowfishing, it's the bomb. I use a velcro rest/leather side plate and have one string set up Finger Savers for fishing and FF string set up for regular shooting/hunting.

If disaster ever strikes and the bow is yanked out of my hand or I have to ditch it, I'm only out $130.

Have fun!
