Dave Johnson Longbow
« on: February 19, 2012, 05:25:00 PM »
I got my new Dave Johnson longbow a few  days ago and would like to share some pics with you. I had shoot a DJ bow many years ago, but found out than he was out of business and was not taking orders. So when I found out he was making them again I had to have one. Its 66" long, has Red Cedar limbs with black glass on the back and white glass on the belly, with a Mrytle wood riser, straight ols school Dave Johnson. Please enjoy!

I think you'll agree that Dave is quite an artist and a bowyer who pays attention to details.

cbCrow-

The bow looks great, especially the myrtle that Dave used in the riser. What is wriiten on the limb?

I always name my bows with something other than just a name. When I looked at Daves' site a lot of "Idle Thoughts" filled my head hence the name.

I'm not typically a D-bow fan but I have to say that bow is just oustandingly beautiful. If it shoots half as nice as it looks you should be very pleased!

That is an incredible looking longbow cbcrow.  Very nice wood combos that compliment each other.  I think that is the first bow I have ever seen with white glass....very nice.  Excellent choice!!

That's a beauty!  Congrats.

I'd love to have one of his bows.  I think I would have a dished grip though.

Do you know why he uses red cedar on all of his bows?  Must be something special about it.

Thanks for the pics.  Post more if you don't care.  Any other pics out there, post them too.

Nice looking bow, cbCrow.

I got one from Dave back in September.
It shoots as good as it looks.

Nala, there is something special about red cedar.

Wow.  How am I just seeing these?  I looooooooove ERC for selfbows.  Hunted all this year with a home made ERC bendy handle.

I really like the way his bows look.  I hadn't planned to buy another one since I'm mostly making selfbows now, but I may have to reconsider.  ERC is great wood and those are really pretty bows.
