How do you know ?

How do you know if you are ready for a new glove ? Fingers are a bit ragged and I feel I am not getting as clean of release as I was before. It appears that the outer "skin" of the leather has worn off. I feel the string OK but I also think the string tries to pull the glove off. It is a soft Damascus glove . Thank you

I think I will throw you a curve ball...forgive me I'm off base but hear me out. I shot with a glove for well over 50 years. I went off to a buddy's house to do some stump shooting about 5 years ago and forgot my glove. Then I was shooting 60+ #s so I needed something and was forced to try one of Todd's tabs. I have never shot a glove again and now I have about a half dozen tabs, all cordovan, and have had to use only one (except for the one I lost) during those 5 years or so.

But, I can answer your question. The damascus gloves, for me, were very short lived. They are very thin and soft. And in a way you have answered your own question. Basically when the day comes and you have to ask yourself the question, then it is time to change gloves....IMO.

I would try a Duraglove from 3 rivers if you want to stick with a glove that is somewhat inexpensive and seems to last a long time.

I've been shooting tabs and recently got a Duraglove from 3 Rivers, Nice glove I like it so far.

Always have new one ready to go,if you think your old one is shot out try the new one. If you feel it's better....then you know. I will have agree with Bill Carlson....it's a tab for me. I shoot both but the tab just better for me!!

Kinda like asking if you should quit drinking.  If you have to ask...

Okay, so maybe it's not that serious, but if you have to ask, you might want to start shopping around.  I get the same one every time because I like it.  It's fairly durable, and I flat like the way it feels and the way I shoot with it.  Never been too keen on a tab.

Thank you. I talked to 3 Rivers about the Duraglove awhile back. We weren't sure it was big enough. I traced my hand today and sent it to American Leathers.

I am really liking the Bearpaw "Black Glove" from Kustom King. Not too thick, warm, durable, doesn't groove up, and best of all doesn't turn my hand orange when it gets wet.

I can tell you that I ordered a bearpaw from my archery shop straight from the catalog he uses, and when it arrived it was marked XL(thats was what my others are) and I couldnt even get it on. So when you order the glove make sure they have a return policy. Neet took over the bearpaw line a while back and the gloves are sometimes not what they are marked for size.

Ive been using a American Leathers glove for 2 years, like it more today then when it was new... they break in real nice and get better with time.

That is why I did the trace the hand deal. My hand is big with long fingers. Another curse I live with, like my long draw. Thanks Guys
