Wood Shaft Suggestions?

Hey y'all...

It's getting to be about time for me to get some new shafting.  I have been sticking with nothing but the discount 23/64" Electronically Spined POC Shafts from Kustom King..I think I've done a bit shy of a hundred of them this year.

Not that I'm finding the POC to be ill natured or anything, but I'm just curious what else is out there?  I was looking at the 3 rivers at Douglas Fir, Lodge Pole shafting, Sitka Spruce, etc.

I figure I'd do like I've been doing- Just order as many as I can-60-100, hand weigh them, put them in groups of six, and run a middleweight tip on them that seems "good enough" for each spine variance, etc.

As another thought...I usually trim my arrows to 28" if I can.  all my bows are 60 lbs@28"  Should I order exactly that spine, or run it a bit lower due to the shaft shortening?

Man there are so many options.  
For a light and tough as nails shaft Spruce from Hildebrant out of washington can't be beat.  They are tougher than carbons to me.
For weight Douglas Fir from surewood shaft is tough and even tempered.

I am curios about Hex shafts but have not seen any in person.

I'll second poplar. I like douglas fir very well and it makes a fine arrow but I really like poplar and it's become my go to shaft.
It's hard to beat for the value.

I really like Surewood doug. fir shafts.  Great shafts.  I also use laminated birch a bit too.

Since 80% of the arrows that were recovered from the Mary Rose was made of poplar for war time, I also go with poplar.  It has great weight, will stay straight, and will take all paints and dyes very good.  Nothing like them in my book.

I'm replacing my P.O. cedar with Douglas fir through attrition.  Only drawback is the fir doesn't smell anywhere near as nice.

I had the opportunity to test the Poplar shafts that Magnus is offering and I can tell you they are great. Hard, straight and very well produced shafting. You will be hard pressed to fine other shafting with more personal attention than these poplar shafts.

Poplar and Douglas Fir will be my next arrow woods to try, but I've had great success with Twigg archery's lodge pole pine..(chundoo). They sell a batch of 50 "selects" for like 65 bucks and most of them are perfectly good shafts!!!!!! The rest either get footed with aluminum arrow pieces for stumping, or used for something else....really a good deal. These are tougher than cedar....JMO......good luck
