Alternative to Tomahawk longbow?
« on: February 25, 2012, 04:02:00 PM »
Hello, I recently bought a new-to-me Tomahawk, and enjoy shooting it quite a bit. Mostly 3D. Shooting under 40 yds. #40@28, shooting 3 under.
I need a T/D (I'm a lefty, been posting on the classifieds for any T/D at that weight, 2-piece but no luck).
I was thinking of getting the Tomahawk T/D, but I had such a bad customer service experience with 3 Rivers that giving them money irks me.
Any similar T/D bow suggestions?
Thanks!

Tons and tons.  I would suggest blackwidow.

I was looking at the PL-X. Like that T/D system, like Big Jim's, (though his waiting list is 9 months).

Marco, The Great Northern Critter Gitter or Lil'Creep with the Jack knife hinge. It folds up but doesnt come apart. Real nice system, Jerry has a pretty short wait time, 8 weeks, better than most.

Thanks, I'm left-handed, that's why it's so hard to find one used. Yellowdog's PLX was exactly what I was looking for. Only LH.

Have you checked out Bamabow? Similar takedown system and start for $539.00 in the Hunter model I believe. I recently acquired one in trade and really like it.

Yes, but his longbows are straight-limbed, and the D/R Expedition comes as a 62", I do wanted a 64 or 66" for stability in 3D.
Maybe I'll just get on the list for Big Jim. 9 months isn't that long... right?

Give Keith Chastain a call at  www.worldclassbows.com  and ask for his Spike TD model. Waiting time should be short and he'll build everything you want.

I've also got a 3 piece left hand TD in a maple riser you could look at. check out the TG classified or my stock bow page on my web site. I do not build a two piece TD myself, but Steve does.... Kirk

Hey Steve,  Why don't you build this gentleman a a nice two piece?

In the grand scheme of things, absolutely not...but waiting for a bow...that 9 months is gonna seem like f o r e v e r. At least it would to me, of course I've been known to be more than a little impatient. That being said, if it's what you want and you're happy with it in the end, it'll be worth it.
