Holy Mackeral - has anyone tried these Dryad limbs!!!
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:12:00 PM »
I just saw an ad selling ACS ILF limbs by Dryad. I looked at their web site. I couldn't believe what I saw. A ACS RC (static recurve) limbs for a recurve.

I have owned ACS lonbows and RER\\Soveriegn  static recurves. The static recurves were the fastest and smoothest drawing recurves we tested through a chrono. The ACS longbows were the fastest longbows we tested through a chrono.

I can't imagine how fast a set of ACS static recurve limbs must be.

Has anyone tried these limbs? If so what do you think. They have to be screamers!

I have a ILF riser and I am a commited Harrison and Hill longbow shooter, but I may have to get a pair of these just to give them a shot.

Thanks
Gil

Gil, I believe they shoot at the same speed as a Pittsley Predator with just Glass and Maple limbs!

The regular bolt down version is suppose to be faster.
I shot them at the KZoo Expo,  but it was hard to tell from a few shots.  It had no silencers or anything on the string and was pretty loud.

Too bad, the design sounds like they should out perform any bow out there.

I don't care about speed anymore. A friend and I tested many many bows. We found most were all close in performance. The stand outs I mentioned above.

I have my Harrison and am getting back my Shulz made Hill Tembo. They are the only bows I need or want, but it would have been fun to try just one more! Ha!

Check out Blacky's site.  He has the review for the ILF limbs there.  The limbs tested out at 198 fps at 9 gpp.  I don't remember seeing any other ILF bow reviewed that was faster.

He will be getting the bolt down version in the next month to add to the website.

Mike were they the RC limbs Blacky tested? They are the ones I want to see what the performance was.

A friend and I tested well over 300 bows and I can't imagine what the Static Recurve ACS limbs would do.

Thanks

Yep they are on his site now.  Both the RC recurve and the CG longbow in ILF.

I shot my buddies Orion with these limbs. Fastest recurve I have ever shot and in 37 years of this I have shot a lot.

The two fastest recurve bows thar I tested were a Predator Classic and the Dryad ACS ILF Recurve, both at 198 fps.

Now keep in mind that the Predator is a fixed limb bow that was designed for that speed. No adjustments can be made.

For an ILF bow it's a lot harder to reach those speeds, since a lot of compromises have to be built into the riser and limbs, so that they can be interchangable with other risers and limbs.

A fixed limb bow will most likely be faster than any ILF bow for that reason, no matter of the limb construction.

I'm excited to see what can be done with those limbs on a bolt-on riser, that is designed just for that riser-limb-combination.

BTW talking about static limbs...the ACS recurve limbs are not as static as the Orion recurve limbs if that makes any sense. I'll hope to do a video soon and add it to the website.

Mike,
as I have seen at Blackys page and your in stock list, your ILF riser has got a different shape now around the screws. Its more open. Why?

We took a little material out of the riser butts because people were having issues when installing limbs if they didn't keep them under control and damaging the inset part of the riser.

I see! That makes sense. The old version looks better, but safety first  :)
