Torges Seat Pics....3 Pics added...
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:25:00 PM »
Not sure if my original was deleted but here are pics of my Torges seat built by Bamboo. Padded, folds in half easy on/off. Tie downs hold it to my Catquiver 3.5 and Large fanny pack when using my backquiver....

Folded and ready to be carried into the woods

Paddes seat...very comfy

I really like that Joe!  What are the rough dimensions?  I've been planning on making a couple of these for the upcoming season and like this better than any of the others I've seen.  Thanks for sharing!

I like the slit and know connection.  I went with the three hole style and I need to practice to do it well. The knot and slide looks fast.  Why did yo loop under and have he knot on the top side?  Wouldn't it work just sliding the knot into the slit so it is on the underside of the seat?
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Maineac--I believe he did it that way so that all
the stress is not on the knot. This way it will be stretched over a longer piece of rope.

The dimensions are 17" long, 14" wide with a slight taper towards the tree. Mike used heavy, soft styrafoam for the seat, probably 1" thick. You can make the padding thicker for added comfort.

I ran the rope through quickly for picture taking as the sleet started coming down. You can hook the rope through either way. Rope thickness and knot size reduce any stress. Heavier guys should use thicker rope..no offense to anyone. Same with the seat....   :nono:

Joe I like hunting with my Troges seat, but I have not figured out the best way to attatch it to my Cat II quiver. Can you show a picture or 2 of how you attatch yours?

Joe not trying to hijack your thread here but I wanted to add one important thing to anyone who is planning on making their own seats. I strongly recomend that you get a good quality rope. One that will not stretch!!!! I ran into that issue with one I made for myself a couple years back. The stretching rope was a pain in the ass because I had to keep getting up to re adjust the rope.

I found this picture on the Internet and had a handy friend make me one like this.
I had a couple I had made myself with the knotted rope but the knot never seemed to be exactly in the right place.
This style lets me adjust it perfectly.

Thanks to whose ever picture I borrowed.

First...I'll be spraying the seat with brown/black paint to camouflage it.

Larry...I have tie downs on the Catquiver 3.5 and my large fanny pack. Here are the pics...

coming from the "fat" guy that put that rope on there---the tensile strength for that rope is darn near 2195lbs--and knots could reduce it to 1097lbs--LOL--that cord don't look like much!but she'll hold ya!  LOL

My hunting buddy Bamboo has spoken!    :readit:

Mikey should know....he builds 'em...

This seat will be a big plus, all my natural blinds have been set up for me to shoot RH. This seat will now allow me to make a quick change and be able to shoot lefty. Best of both worlds....   :jumper:

I have four of these made up. I think i'll modify one to fold up like yours. I also want to set them up with Prussik knots for easy adjustment.
