Small deer at our outdoor archery range
« on: July 26, 2007, 07:29:00 AM »
Hi All,

After a training session at our outdoor range this week we were sitting on the porch talking about the serene quitness of our outdoor range and some other things. Sun was setting and beautiful colors were emerging, no wind and all was quiet.
Suddenly my attention was cought and this happens very rarely: a small deer was strolling at the edge of the range.
Nearby there is a large but protected area with heather fields, a small forests and some ponds where some groups of small deer have their habitat. Probably this one got away from the group and ended up at our outdoor range.
Lucky for me I brought my camera and took this picture. Nice things still happen in this world.

Herkimerhunter,

It's a roe deer. Just after taking the picture she jumped back into the bushes in the background.
I just was lucky that it drew my attention and was able to catch it with my camera. Never had that luck before at such a close range (~ 30 yards).because they are quite shy.
