Fred Bear Grizzly Signed Autographed to Ben Lee
« on: March 07, 2012, 10:26:00 AM »
Well I had the other thread about the Big Al signed 66 Kodiak, here is my latest pride and joy that is not going anywhere. I have the bow, and Ben Lee Jr. has also sent me a signed pic of his dad and Fred Bear along with other photos. I will post those when they come in for all to enjoy if I can figure out how. For those who don't know. Ben Lee was a 5 time turkey calling champion who made turkey calls; and was a good friend of Fred's. Ben Jr. is a Great guy to talk to. I need a better camera to catch the signature. Also need to find something to bring out the autograph and protect it. The autograph has no coating and can easily be scratched off if mis handled. Any recomendations on how to care for this Autograph would be greatly appreciated. If I could get pics on this site I would post them. If anyone would like to do it for me I would send to an E mail.

Nice. I saw Ben Lee once at a turkey calling contest. He lived nearby and came probably as a favor to the people having the contest. That was in the early 90's, I think. I also remember my dad playing his turkey calling cassettes over and over to learn to call.

Ray,
Bow had to be custom ordered at that weight. It's actually 70x#, and I don't think I am going to be stringing it up to draw any time to soon.

Quick question; Is this bow considered a super grizzly with the red stripe even though it says Grizzly on the limb?

My other Fred Bear "Big Al" also came in today. I would be hard pressed to top this day! I do have a bit of remorse for another person though. If it wasn't for that, this day would be close to perfect. As you can see Big Al has a nice signature accept for the small nick on the bottom. You can see the difference in this first pic

That's cool!

I met B.R.L. once at a sport show here in NY back in the early 80's.

Bought my first mouth call from him and he gave me a quick lesson on how to use it...he told me to say the "S word" drawn out in 2 syllables....

"sheeee-it"

Then once you do it slow, start speeding it up...also bough a cassete tape from him that I about wore out over the next few years.

A shame he left us so young....

I had his cassette and really learned how to call from it. I agree Ben Lee left us way too soon.

Very cool bows!
