Shed Day
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:50:00 PM »
Lowebow and I walked one of his farms today and although we didn't find any of his big ones he was wanting to find we found a few.

Walking around one field point I hear him down the hill say "Oh man there's a rib cage" That sends shivers down a shed hunters spine for sure. When we walked up it was a sad sight to say the least.

It was good to get out and get some exercise and spend some time with my bud. Here's the day's take. Mike check and see if you have this deer on any of your trail cam picts from this year.

Wow, you guys made a haul!  What a nice buck that must have been.  It makes you wonder what caused it's death.

Nice day of it for sure.  Too bad the big one didn't get another year or two to grow.

Found this matched set walking thru some honey suckle.  Picked up the 1st and made a 2nd pass and found the mate about 20 yards away.  I'd say they were last years sheds.

This dude was in the wierdest spot...We figured he musta went down and slid down under the log as it was a pretty steep hillside.  The woods in this spot were fairly mature and open and w/ a dead end one lane road within sight of it.  I'd say he was either shot legally during gun season, or poached and lost from that road area.  I ran cams out in this area for over 6 months and can't find any pics, nor do I recognize him.  I had a stand about a 150 yards from where he laid.  Can't believe I never saw the buzzards.  A shame....

You almost feel cheated finding one like that. Good haul for a day I would say.

I know nothing goes to "waste" in nature, but imo a nice buck like that deserves to be taken by an arrow through both lungs, shot out of a trad bow, by a hunter who truelly appreciates him. Glad you found him, none the less.

That is a lifetime of shed hunting in MY area.

The big buck found dead would have had his bones spread far and wide from coyotes where I live...I have NEVER found a deer carcass intact like that.

Thanks for the pics guys...your posts and pics are always appreciated!

Bonebuster, I think the yotes pulled this deer where its rack jammed under the log. I am sure he didn't die with his head under there.

Nice finds.  Sucks about the big one and the spike, but it happens unfortunately.

Could very well be Joe.  I never even put them together.  I came in...dropped them in the pile, drank a beer, and took a nap..LOL.
Looks like a good match.  If it's him he sure didn't put on any mass this year.
