In the meantime, do 98% of your filing on the nonbeveled side.. First one side then the other..
Before I start I take a sharpie and mark the beveled side right at the point for 1/4" or so.
I'm not sure it helps a lot but I think I can see what's happening a little better if I do mark it.
I work around the curve at first without filing past the center of the existing point..
Then I'll start my file strokes along the centerline of the ferrel or broadhead.. All my filing is from the back towards the point.. While doing this pay close attention to how the ridge or high centerline of the point is forming. Try to keep that ridge along the centerline and ending at the very point..
After you've done a few you can modify a tanto in 10 minutes easliy.. I like 'em pointed, call me crazy,lol !
