Woodsman Elites and VPA dimension???
« on: March 12, 2012, 11:57:00 AM »
I know that the VPA 125's are shorter than the heavier models, is the same true for the Elites's?

I like a longer profile bh in 125 grains. Anybody know the length of the 125 Woodsman Elite and is it vented? Thanks

Think it would be the same, but just a guess.  I did see on the back of the 3 Rivers catalog I just got there is a new non-vented WW and I think it was either 125 or 150.  I would call them and check.

They are vented and approx. 1-7/8th inch base to tip and 7/8th inch from back of blade to blade.  I love the Elites/Teminators but also prefer a longer head, so when I need 125 grains it's the original, which is still noticeably shorter than the 150 screw-in that everyone's familiar with.

The 100, & 125 grain models feature a cutting diameter of 1 inch, while the 150, 175, 200, & 250 grain models have a 1 1/8" cutting diameter.

This is directly from 3Rivers page online about them. Sorry I can't find a length on them but I know my 175 grain heads are about 2 3/8" long.

http://www.vparchery.com/vpa_3_blade_broadheads.php

We just recently listed the dimensions of the VPA heads on our website, since we were being asked this question quite a bit.  If you are shooting either 125 or 150 grains and prefer a longer head, then by all means shoot the Woodsman Elites. That being said, don't let our shorter heads fool ya. Get them scary sharp and you'll get great penetration with them. Personally, I used the VPA 150's last year and shot a big doe with my 54# Great Northern longbow and Gold Tip 5575's. Penetration and the blood trail were both very impressive.

As always, shoot me an e-mail if I can be of any further help.

Not all of the screw in 250 VPA's are 1 1/8" diameter...     :scared:    they produce and are about as close to 3:1 as I think you may find    :wavey:

The 100 and 125 grain Elites are 2.6 inches long and the150 is 3.25 before they grind the pyramid tips on them.

Dont let the shorter VPA fool you.  They fly great and have been through quite a few elk, deer and bear with full pass throughs.
