Out in the Big Sky.....pic essay
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:57:00 PM »
This past Saturday, some buddies, most of us PBS members and local friends....organized an outing at a shooting preserve to soak up some much needed winter sunshine and limber up our muscles.   Armed with our bows and quivers full of flu-flu's, we took after some "released" birds for some fun and socializing.   I think a good time was had by all of us.   I won't go into too many details.   We purchased 15 birds, and using the dogs to find them, took home 9 of them, while 6 joined up with their "wild" cousins.  Of the nine, the dogs "beat us" to 4, I think.    Anyway, while not a truly wild hunt, there is plenty of action, great scenery, good training for the dogs, handlers, and shooters...and a lot of much needed R and R for some winter-weary Montanans'.  Enjoy the pics!

A great time was had by all!   Maybe Walt or Dave or Lenny will see this and add some more pics as I know there were many taken that day.  These are just a few of the one's I took.

9 out of 15, now that's good shooting!  I keep meaning to get my Brittany out, leave the shotgun at home and give it a try with the bow.

Looks like a great time in beautiful country!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
