A&H ACS CX for me too!  Although a bow from Abe would be nice as would a Morrison!

Cari-Bow Silver Fox. Outstanding bow in every aspect.

In that case the Pronghorn is a nice bow.  I owned a one piece Herb made and it was a shooter!  I am sure his 3-piece ones are just as nice.  Another bow you might check out is by Sapphire Archery.  I have heard some really great things about his double carbon, 3 piece longbows and they are in your price range.  Very nice looking bows in my opinion and suppose to be great performers!

I'd throw another vote for a Pronghorn. I've got 2 of Herb's bows a 1 piece & 3 piece, both longbows. Excellent value, fast & hard hitting. Very light in the hand & a great limb design.
Also, there's plenty to be had second hand for around the $350-500 mark.

If you would like to stay around $500-$600 I would look at a Zipper(not much of a web site, but great bows) or Bob Lee(can't go wrong there).

The truth is(I think A&H is the exception due to different limb design)that many of the higher priced bows are not that much differentfrom the lower priced performance wise.  The difference in most of the higher price vs. lower price is exotic woods and overall finished craftmanship.  I would think(again just my opinion) that the performance of most these bows will be in the same neighborhood.

Shoot as many bows as you can and go with the most quiet and comfortable for you before buying. Those two characteristics will help out a lot at the moment of truth.

The bowyers that advertise on tradgang are all excellent people and craftsmen. I am certain that you will be in good hands with any of them.

Just my two cents,
Charlie

Check the classifieds.  I saw a Pronghorn and a Morrison Dakota on page1 in you price range.

I have a Morrison and it may be the best bow I've owned.

Crow Creek Black Feather, sweeeeeeet shooting bow.  I've owned lots of bows and Mr. Patton's craftsmanship doesn't take a back seat to anyone of whom I have personal knowledge.
