My folks were over Sunday (3/18)and after lunch and a couple bottles of wine we started talking about mushrooms. The big question was, "are they up yet?" We decide to go look. So we went to our top secret, most sacred, don't tell anyone where it is spot. We only found three and we decided to leave them, in hopes that maybe they will call all there friends.

I want to echo what arrow30 said, "use the mesh bag."

Here in Southern Illinois the first week in April is usually the start if all this insanity.

Must be a mid-west or far-west thing. Never seen Morels in Texas/Oklahoma, but that certainly doesn't mean they are not here. Info is appreciated.

Not yet in NE Indiana.  Some folks have been finding them in S Indiana, lots of blacks and grays.  It's early here and with it getting cold again, we're probably a week or two away...  Sure looking forward to it!!  PS - Glad to see this post here.  I mean you can stump shoot and hunt mushrooms right??     :bigsmyl:      todd

Anybody in my neck of the woods needs to get out hunting pretty soon. I had a couple hours of kid free time after work today. Checked my early spots and found a bunch that were dried up. Headed to my late season spots and found the same thing. I hope we get some rain tonight.

The local turkey population is alive and well. Most of my spots looked like a leaf blower had been through them. I jumped one hen off a nest about three feet from me. What a weird year this is.

Still early here also. But it is coming up on one of my favorite times of the year. Turkey, trout, and morel's. Although it isn't looking like the season's will coincide this year. Good find Rob, what time is dinner?  :goldtooth:
