« on: March 17, 2012, 03:27:00 PM »
I am going to order a long bow.  I was thinking of getting a duel shelf... What are he draw backs to having a duel shel over a single one?   What are your guys thought?
Hopefully you will see me as a better person today than I was yesterday..

With properly tuned arrows they are great.  Our whole family shoots and we're a mixed family  with more than one lefty and righty in the mix.  We have a few dual shelves in various weights.  In fact, I REALLY like the old dual shelf Bear Alaskans.  We have 3 of them.  Cheap, quiet, smooth, and efficient.
Shoot what you like and like what you shoot.

No draw backs.  proper arrow spine and brace ht. become a little more important.  The only draw back is, it's bit harder on the guy making it.

I had a U-finish hybrid made with a dual shelf. I really liked it but the weight was a little too much for my "off-side". I sold it, but bought another bow blank at a lighter weight. I'm contemplating making it a dual shelf when I shape the riser.

My next HH bow will be ambi...but with no shelf.
   I like shootin both sides....
It really builds up your strength....
And it comes in handy when shoot a 3D shoot, and the target is easyer to shoot one side than the other....

There's a dual shelf Mad Dog already up for the St Jude's auction.  Looks pretty slick.  Check out the st Jude's thread by lpjcon for a link to it.

I had a hill style double shelf made for me this past year. Had a great time with it all season. My off side needs some work on strength in the wrist, but otherwise no problems.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
