wax on my exotic wood

So I could us a little newbie advice. I purchased my first batch of mixed exotic wood locally yesterday in preparation of my first oak board bow. My concern is some ends are waxed if seems and a 1.5×1.5×18 isabella block is encased entirely in it! My first thought was wow this has to the e a concern in relation to glue up with other wood. How do I get it off the wood and how much of a concern is it when I glue wood to wood. Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice. Jim

They dip wood blocks to reduce checking and cracking and, as far as I know, you have to cut off the first 1/8 to 1/2 inch of the waxed surface, depending on how porous the wood is and how deep the wax has penetrated. Save those scraps and polish them up into nice coasters or drawer slides though.
