Killdeer, I was more into using my brother's GI Joes to rescue the barbies who were being held hostage than playing with their clothes. I guess that's what happens when you just have a brother and grow up on a dead-end dirt road with no neighborhood kids!

Bretto, I know from the other night at the archery shop that I have a 26" draw but all he had were 50# bows. Is there any way of testing this out without a bow?

Were you pulling the 50# back to 26"?  if so you where probably drawing around 43 - 45#.  If you where getting it back, but a "little short" you can estimate that for each inch less than 28" you where loosing about 2.5#.  Example: if you can draw a 50# @ 28" bow 24", you were drawing around 40#.  Most adult sized bows in an archery shop, are marked at a 28" draw length.  If you order something custom made you can order it at the poundage you want at your partiuclar legnth that you draw.

Always glad to see women in the sport! Welcome! I got my wife a Great Plains recurve for a gift before we got married and luckily since she is always up to try new things it worked out! Did the same for fly fishing. Now i just have to wait til my ten month old daughter can get big enough to join in on the fun! Good luck!

welcome and good luck with the bow...the bowhunting...and converting your husband...if not then he will just have to sit and listen to your stories of adventure and danger over the years and how you stalked up close on the big one on the wall.  :)

Maddog, he had a special type of bow that only measured draw length, not poundage. He was too scared to let me try to pull back the 50# for fear of "the little lady hurting herself." I'll try to go to Dick Palmer's shop this week.

Glad to see so many wives are interested in this and thanks again for the warm welcome.
