Mgirl, I bought my first longbow from Dick Palmer in 1983.  He has been in traditional archery for a long time and should be able to answer any questions you might have.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome to ya!

Up until last year, 99% of the time I hunted alone (and I was born and raised a city kid, so there is hope for your husband).  Now, it's always Jennifer (a.k.a. - Silver_Wolf) and I.

Yes, I let her have my best tree-stand location, but when the deer came by her way... she was asleep in her Summit climber.

Hunting alone is nice, but hunting with someone you want to be with.........well, it doesn't get any better!!!  I wish you the best in getting your hubby out and into the woods.

I'd bet you could handle a 50#@28" bow considering your 26" draw. Or at least a 45 @ 28 bow. Any bow weighed and marked at 28" would be easier to sell as you move along in your bow life. Just as a comparison, my 10 yr old grandson can pull my 45 pound bows back to his draw, which is about 21 " right now. A 45 may be about perfect for you.
