To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

My wife and I leave for Alberta on the 9th of May. We packed the clothes today and worked on the camera gear, getting very close now. Good luck to all of you spring bear hunters this year.

Any of you guys shooting VPAs, send us your bear pics for the VPA web gallery. We'll likely do some sort of a drawing for a free pack or something from those that submit

It was starting to green up pretty good. Still a decent bit of snow up high but I felt that the bears should be out where I was in the upper lochsa.

Thanks , we are heading to the Clearwater again , we sure had a good hunt last year there ( last year we were there June 1-10 ). Saw lots of bears and I filled both my tags.We were hunting with RidgeRunner Outfitters ( same this year ) Got this guy a few days into the hunt.
Then a few days later I got this one......
We have a full group of TradGangers this year , I dont care if I get one or not , I still have the rush from last spring.......

Man those are beautiful bears. This will be my first year baiting over there. We will be hunting in close proximity to a bunch of traditional guys from western Montana and a few from across the country. Last weeks trip got me pumped up and I will be back there on Friday to see how things are going and getting things set up. Did have a report of a friend already having a big bear hittin his bait he just set last Saturday. Very exciting!
