Wild turkey feather questions
« on: April 01, 2012, 12:52:00 AM »
My dads neighbor is a turkey hunter, I told him a few months back that if he killed a turkey to save me the wings.  Well, he killed a 23 pounder Saturday morning and gave me the wings later that evening.  Are feathers cut from just the long primary feathers or can they be cut from the shorter secondaries too?  Anybody know someone who will make me some RW feathers for the left wing in trade?

Primaries are better. Secondaries are a little to soft

Get in touch with Magnus.  He is a sponsor here and will fix you right up.

What Charlie said. Matt (Magnus) will hook you up. He's a great guy and won't do you wrong. Also I've used secondaries on some arrows; they did just fine. Maybe a touch noisier, but for targets or stumping they'd be perfect. Like was said above, they are softer feathers though.

Hope this helped!
