Well the Hill bows may not need little beaver balls, but they look   .

...and how come we can't see the poll results until it's over?  :dunno:

I have tried the beaver and other fur, but my Hill lover the rubber Cat whisker type.

I use a single beaver ball cut in half.  Half on to and half on bottom.  It doesn't make any difference to heard sound from just a few feet away but it takes away the vibration feeling that a naked string can do.  For some reason I just don't like that feeling.

I use fur on some and Rubber Cat Whiskers on some, and both have been very effective.  I exactly use the same set up for practice & 3D shoots that I do for hunting. That way it is merely a matter of which quiver of arrows I need to pick up, field points or broadheads.

I have a couple of bows that I don't hunt with and have never gotten around to putting silencers on them, but since I don't like the twangy sound a bare string gives off, I will put them on eventually. I have one bow that sounds almost like a bell chiming when it is shot, and its one of my Hill bows.

If my bow is carrying a B 50 string I often don't use them and my Miller longbow looks plain ol' silly with them on .
Some of my bows like a small cut in half cat whisker with low stretch strings .

Can't say I have ever had a relaxed animal jump the string from the noise of the bow string ...

Now the wired up rabbits that I hunt ? Well thats a different story !!!

Always, Otter or Beaver fur. Always try and get close so sound still travels faster than the arrow loosed from the Bow! Blackhawk (For the results) I guess its just like a Hunting situation, Were going to have patience.

My Hill Half Breed is nearly silent with just wool puffs and a heavy arrow!!

Rubber cat whiskers trimmed very small to get rid of the string hum/vibration.

I'll see if I can change that, sorry I must have clicked that button and didn't unclick  it before it went final.

I use yarn woven through the string. I use it to check the wind drift. I pluck a few hairs of it off and then set loose and watch where they go. Do my bows need them? no.

Yep, I do, I make them out of wool yarn. Make a ball about the size of a golf ball. I have skinny FF strings on all my bows, they are very quiet without silencers, but silent with them, I'll take silent. No, Dacron is not an option!

Tiny wool puffs the size of a golf ball 12" down from the loop, scotchguard coated. Why have a quiet bow when you can have a silent one?

I use 6 2" strands of yarn on both ends, placed at 16" from ends to keep mine super quiet.
