Why is it that when I hear Indian flute music, I.........
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:55:00 PM »
Want to go out and shoot my bow? I can listen to Indian flute music and be taken far, far away in my mind to a deep forrest that is filled with deer, elk, wild turkey with beautiful rivers and streams;makes me wonder why this style of music is so "enchanting"; anyone else have the same experience?

I do also. As does my wife who has her own flute and plays it while on the hill under a tree.

I'm a fan...and I play some, on a couple flutes I have.  I think it's one of those "spiritual" type instruments...summoning up memories of elk bugles, coyote howls, lonesome windblown pines and high windy ridges.   It's soulful, not unlike taking out that selfbow and shooting, while dreaming of hunting.

I often put in some Indian flute when I am driving to a stand to hunt.  I find it helps calm me down 9especially after a day of dealing with 7th and 8th graders) so I am calmer and more focused when I hit the woods.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

My wife used to use an Indian flute cd to get our daughters to take naps when they were little. She would lay them down fussing and put on the cd,as soon as they heard it they would settle right down and be snoozin' in a few minutes. I think the name of the cd was Journeys of the flute.

One of my favorites is Mary Youngblood playing solo flute. The whole album was recorded in an underground cavern in California. The acoustics are spectacular.

Native American flute music really goes straight for the Spirit and always makes me want to shoot my bow.    :archer2:

I am the same way. I also find that I shoot better after listening to flute music. I think it helps to calm you down after a long day at work.

I love it as well.
so much so that I gave my girlfriend my first hand made flute for her birthday last year.

she later surprised me with a concert one afternoon from the same man who inspired me to try and produce a flute. It was really great to hear his music in person rather then other means

I like the South American Indian flute music. It is real primal, but relaxing and amazing how good it sounds.

For me there is absolutely no difference between taking some of natures bounty and making a weapon to feed me physically or taking some to feed me spiritually. The music takes me to the same place that bow hunting takes me. If anybody has any interest in flutes, feel free to PM me.

Living on the south rim of the Grand Canyon for the past 20 years I have always favored Canyon Trilogy by Carlos Nakai.

When the Elk bed for the day I often do the same and crawl up under a juniper with the flute music in my ears. I then wait for the first bugle of the afternoon to signal its time to once again begin my pursuit.

Sergio did you get into Antelope Canyon? One of my favorites but stay away in our monsoon season it can be fatal.
