New Maddog Machete
« on: April 07, 2012, 03:22:00 PM »
I am late at posting this.  I got the bow on Monday then I tore my ACL. So I have been dealing with that all week.  Good news is ACL in in the knee so I can shoot all I want    :)
This is a new bow from Mike at Maddog.  It has only a 45.5" AMO.  The grip is a great fit for my small hand.  This will be a very fun deer hunting bow.  I was blown away by this little guy.  My first 4 arrows all in the kill zone and she was not even close to being set to the right brace height. Very quiet as well!
It is 44#@23".  Stout for me, but I wanted to increase my poundage.  Will be hitting the weights for this one. I normally hunt around 40#s.

Pics to come.  Having an issue with photobucket's resize.

Ouch. Tearing an ACL hurts.

Do know that the standard ACL repair is a good surgery -- my son had it done twice while he was playing college football and he is fine now, and is as strong now as before the injuries.

At least you have a beautiful bow to shoot while your knee is suffering.

Good luck with the ACL.

Good looking new bow. Hope you heal up fast. I guess I'm still a couple of months out on getting the 55" longbow I have on order from Madddog. Dave

Thanks for the well wishes.
Yes, having a new bow maks it a bit less harsh looking at six months of recovery.
Thanks to Mike for this great little bow. This is the fourth Maddog in my house. Three are mine. Might be getting another soon. Anyone on the fence about getting a Maddog needs to pull the trigger. Great bows at a killer price!

I'm more impressed with each new Maddog I see.  Mike does great work!  Nice bow!

I actually thought this one up a few years back.  I had a customer that was a grown man but only a 24" draw and he was under 5" tall.  But wanted it to be over 50#.  So I designed the machete.

I've since adjusted the design a little and I've made 3 this year, and getting ready to make a 4th.  I don't have it shown as available on my website but it's mostly because it's really not suitable to draw past 25".  If a shooter can consistantly short draw a bow it would make a good brush bow or blind bow.  Or a shooter could put a draw check on it.
