Instinctive Archer Magazine
« on: April 12, 2012, 03:52:00 PM »
I bought the CD with all the instinctive archer magazine issues 6 years ago, and never really looked at it since I found it boring reading on a computer. But since then I have put each issue in pdf and on my ipad, and what a pleasure to read this magazine. Thanks Rob for taking the time to scan all the pages of all the issues !

It is such a great read isn't it .....

Its probably my favourite archery resource ... there is a distinct , compared to today , lack of the words "fps" , "foam/carbon/bakelite " and "speed " ...

There is a focus on fun , the joy of the arrows flight , some great little blurbs of little known but important archery history and hunting stories from a diverse range of writers ...

Thanks Rik & Rob for getting it back out to us !

it's a slight rewrite of the current html framed iam cd code in order to move each issue into a separate pdf.  the pdf sizes will be huge, as is the 518.2 meg iam cd.

i just converted spring 1996 premier issue to a pdf file and it's 59 megs large.  this is because every page of every issue has been digitized into an image.

for those wishing to download the spring 1996 pdf, here's the link ... remember, it's 59 megs large! ...

 1996spring.pdf

i dunno squat about these here new fangled ipad, ipod, iwhatever phones, but i'd offer an iam cd PDF version if there's enuf interest.   :)

i do know an ipad is a very sophisticated computer.  if i has storage for media (it'd need about a gig's worth), and you could load files on it, and it has a browser, why not just load the entire iam cd onto it?

Rob,
My pdfs are about 20-22 Mo. I can send you one if you want to compare. Also the html version works ok with ifiles on ipad, but it so much better imo to be able to turn the pages with ibook app.

PM sent Rob.

I won a couple of the cd's at last years auction and ditto on a great read.  I especially enjoyed the articles on the Holmgard bows, and making a sapling D-bow.

Absolutely a must have IMO.

iam cd owners, don't forget that you can - and should! - copy the entire cd to you hard drive.  this will make viewing lots faster.

you can also move the contents to a flash drive, for easier portability.

and if you know a bit about html code, you can recode each issue, view the results in a browser, and print to a file (pdf).   :)
