New friends and stmpin' with the kids
« on: April 15, 2012, 04:37:00 PM »
It is always interesting to meet folks from tradgang, either on a hunt, at a shoot, or some one kind of local to go stumpin' with.
Well, Rob Cunfer and I have been trying to meet since last year and we finally got it to work out. Rob called me this morning and asked if I could get out for a spur of the moment stump shoot. My daughter Gwyn and I were just thinking about flinging a few arrows, so I said when do we meet? Rob told me about a place that was between where he and I live, so I put a few things in the car and hustled out to meet him.
Gwyn and I arrived at the designated spot and finally met Rob and his son Nate. We followed him down the road a mile or two and came to a great looking woods where we would shoot.
Right off we were getting along talking archery, hunting, fishing etc. It was great to be out with some fine folks having a good time shooting.

Rob and his son have been shooting these woods for years, and there was no shortage of stumps to shoot. Gwyn was having a good time and we would let her step up closer on some of the long shots.

Nate was a helpful companion for her. What a polite young man he was.

We shot for a while and circled back to the vehicles after a bit.

Rob and Nate brought along a camp stove, some hot dogs and drinks. We sat and chatted a while before we wrapped it up and headed home. Thanks Rob and Nate for a great few hours of shooting. Hope to make it longer next time.

Jerry looks like you and Gwyn had a great time! Will she be going to Whittingham with you this year to out shoot you? I'm trying to talk Andrew into going this year.

Pat, I can't believe how fast the time goes by. She is really sprouting up.

Larry, yes Gwyn will be shooting Whittingham this year.
