My Silvertip Came Home!
« on: April 16, 2012, 03:01:00 PM »
I have had my Schafer Silvertip for over ten years, and I finally decided to send it back to Dave Windauer to get refinished.  I initially planned on sending it last summer..but a prolonged work stoppage(6 months) due to contract negotiations at my factory caused me to put the project on hold!  I finally went back to work in January..and spent weeks trying to replenish the bank account.  About three weeks ago, I sent the bow back to Montana....

I had Dave do a complete refinish, checker the grip, reduce the weight(getting older), and include antler knobs....

All I can say is I am completely amazed at how talented Dave is....!   :bigsmyl:

It came in the mail today, after only three weeks!  Mind you, to me it seemed like three months!

I would like to thank Dave for doing an amazing job, and especially thank Beth, for putting up with me during the last 9 months of emails....It was definitely worth the wait!

It is 58", and now the weight is 54#@27", down from 57#....some pics:

It's like Christmas!  It will be with me at the Baltimore Bowmen Traditional Classic in May!

Sergio...I couldn't agree more!  It looked really beat up when I sent it to Dave....was going through withdrawal for three weeks!

I am sure there are many great bowyers...but Dave and Beth are absolutely the best in my book..it was my first custom bow...and when you go with the best..it's hard to change!

I did the same with mine this spring.  I think it may look better than when it was new.  And they were very quick too.  I think it was maybe three weeks.  Nice looking bow you got there.

Looks great...I'm in the wait mode right now.My riser is out there to get fit for my new limbs....46# @ 29" 60". Sent it out around Easter, now waiting for the Resurrection....lol! Can't wait to get it back and get to know her!!! Good luck with your born again bow!

Boy, that's a beautiful bow!  I did kind of the same thing last winter.  I sent my 1983 Asbell Bighorn to Whip for a weight reduction and refinish.  He has it on schedule to work on in May.  I can hardly wait.

Beautiful bow!

I did the same thing last summer.  Dave made the original bow for me 12 years earlier.  I ordered new, lighter limbs and had the riser refinished.

I love it even more than before! Dave is the most talented bowyer I know of.

Beth is wonderful to deal with!  She's the best customer relations person out there!!
