Whittingham What it's all about :)
« on: April 29, 2012, 07:55:00 PM »
I had the pleasure to go to the Whittingham shoot today with my oldest daughter Allie. We where accompanied by John Wert and Jeff Vickers

John and Jeff got to my house fairly early and we made the hour drive to the shoot. The weather was perfect and we had a great scenic drive in.

When we go there we got in a great group that included Cody Harrison his dad Randy owns and operates Indian Rock Archery a trad shop in N.J.

Here's are first group From left to right   John, Paul, Jeff, Me and Cody with my daughter Allie in the front

There was a mixture of old and new

The courses where set up well and they were fun for all

Great pictures we were there Saturday and shot them up. Meet new people and saw old friends and then the blanket sale did well had the right stuff for sales priced right. Bought some stuff and ate at the barbie that was great. Resovled some issues and had a real good time. Today I'm worn out as an O'l boy.

Get ready for Baltimore now.

I missed it this year....but always a great time. Looks to a bit warmer down there than up here. The courses are always great with some challenging targets!.....Great photos!!

I agree!! It was a GREAT shoot, nice day, lots of fun, and met a lot of nice people.  Shooting the flying discs is always a blast. The jackalop target was hysterical. I think the mountain goat up on the rocky hillside claimed the most broken arrows. Nicely arranged ranges at good trad distances. Me, my son and his friend had a fund day.
didn't understand - now I do.

I was there with a friend. It was good seeing so many folks.

Two observations: Distance was very challenging as was the placement. I would never take a shot from the positions or distances. They were quite unethical.

I found that most shots were setup for right hand shooters. Both my friend and I are left handed. We both noticed.

What I found most fun was the Muzzy course. I love the small targets at reasonable distances.

Gwyn and I had a great time with many friends that we usually camp with. Some folks couldn't get there because of work commitments and they were missed. We also felt the pain of the kitchen not showing up.    :readit:   I guess that is our own fault. I ran into a lot of tradgangers, Doc, Monkeyball and his wife... it was a long list. As for the shots being set up as ethical or for right/left handed, The point of 3-D was to challenge, isn't it?

I had a great time. It was my first outing in two years and much needed. I was hurting most of the time due to my lack of physical conditioning, primarily from recovering from a motorcycle accident last Fall, but it was worth every ache.

Ken (njloco) gave me a ride up and we shared camp. He's also been helping me with my shooting which I really needed and I expect to be a much improved shooter this year. Ken's a very good shot. Thanks Buddy!

I scored a very pretty '69 Grizzly to add to my collection at the blanket sale. I don't shoot recurves much these days but I shot my best round with her on Sunday. Being a lighter weight than my other bows surely helped, but I was impressed with how it performed.
