I think you can buy some from Chad at LBR.I have made a couple 8190 strings for my bows. It's small diameter and very strong.I made them 12 strands with padded loop ends for a 50# and 57#.They are holding up great and very quiet on the bows I put them on.A Shrew Model T and Morrison Shawnee, both have carbon & foam limbs.A 12 strand is about the same diameter as a 8 strand D97,10 strand 8125 and a 6 strand 450+.So far I really like 8190,I plan on making some more for some of my other longbows.

In the past, I've ordered directly from them.  Great people to work with.  Give them a call with any questions.

With that skinny of the string does it not cut into your fingers?

I got mine direct.  They told me the breaking strength was 76#'s.  So I made mine 8 strand flemish.

BCY sent me a sample when it first came out earlier this year.  I've tinkered with it and sent out test strings.

I like it.  Tough, very low stretch/creep.  Can't say it's a big improvement over 8125, but it's good stuff.  I've got 9 colors now.  If you want to buy the material, you can get it direct from BCY--I don't know of any stores carrying it yet.

For a comparison...original "Fast Flight" was SK65 Dyneema.  Dynaflight '97 and 8125 are SK75 Dyneema.  Dynaflight 10 was SK78 Dyneema. 8190 is SK90 Dyneema.

I've tinkered with 12 strands (very small string), think I like 16 better.  Still a small diameter string.

John, they are double served to fit the arrow nocks so the feel is exactly the same as any other string material on your fingers.

Hey John--it won't cut into your fingers.  I have been shooting a 12 strand 8190, which is the thinnest I've personally left on my bow for any amount of time (test string, plan to bump it up to 16 strands).

Servings come in larger sizes, but the problem with putting a fat serving on a skinny string is it's much more apt to slip.  Padding out under the serving usually doesn't look good--makes the serving lumpy, etc.  Double serving the entire length adds double the weight in the most crucial point on the string.  I only do it when absolutely necessary, but when there's no other feasable solution I'll put a serving and a half--double serve in the nock area, single serve the rest.

I can't say it feels just like a regular sized string (to me--YMMV), but it doesn't hurt my fingers.  I use a cordovan tipped glove, which helps.

Thanks Chad for the update.  I think I too would go with the 16 strand as I like the feel of a larger diameter string and really don't like the double serving.
Now I have a question on quietness.  Is this new material quieter?

It's very quiet, at least on my longbow--almost hunting quiet with no silencers--quieter than any other material I've used on it.  On recurves not as quiet (no surprise there), but didn't require any jumping through hoops or going to extremes to get them quiet--just basic tuning.

Chad I loved the way my bows shoot with 8125 but found if the bow was left strung up it would continue to stretch and have to have extra twists added. Is this the case with this new material.I am using ts plus now have you compared these 2 materials. Thanks heaps for taking the time to answer these questions as it is hard to get this sort of info in AUS.

Must be a new policy. I know dealers are required to have a minimum order.  My experience with them has always been great.

Unusual for 8125 to show much stretch--how many strands in your string?

8190 has even less than 8125--very little stretch or creep.  It's comparable to 450+ in that department.  I never used TS Plus--started to try it, but learned it was going to be discontinued so I didn't bother.

Charlie,

I went to BCY when I started making my own a couple years ago.  I couldn't deal direct either but they directed me to someone else and they've had what I wanted.  I just looked and they carry 8190.  I'll send you a PM.
