I don't think there is a "cheap" source for carbons.  If anyone knows of one please let all of us know.

Our Senior Councilman donated his time to put all of these together for the Michigan Longbow Association.

All I can say is if you are going to do this shoot, be prepared to have a ton of smiling kids and also be prepared to check/repair every arrow.  We ended up with almost 2 dozen broken shafts after this shoot, but the price is worth it to give them a memorable experience.

It was a great weekend full of many differant events for free.  There was a great supper and raffle after wards. Did I mention for free.  We had a couple of fire pits and some really nice camping spots.  Did I forget to mention, FREE.  This is what the MLA, which costs a whole $15.00 a year to belong to gives back to it's membership every spring.  Kind of a , "hey wake up its time to shoot your bow again" shoot.

If you noticed in a couple of the photos there were parents and other adults mentoring the kids.  This is what the MLA is all about.  I won't bring up the fact that the weekend was free again!!!

Mike,

I keep going back to the porcipine pinata picture and those are nice flu flu's!  They are kind or parabolic style feathers and do some have that wind indicating fuzz aft?  I'd love to see close up...

Easy to make,  3 fletch with 3 1/2" feathers and then wrap a single feather at the top between the nock and the 3 fletched feathers. You have to glue the tip of the wrapped feather to the shaft and clamp it until it dries and then run a bead of glue on the rest of the feather and wrap it around the shaft and then clamp that end.

Yep, just that simple.  Best part is that the 3 fletch is full height cut offs from full length feathers that were either chopped or cut to be burned.  Very little waste this way.

The pinata picture could be a great tool to pull in young beginning archers. That would be a cool pic on a t-shirt  :)

I was back at the club for joad today and the kids kept finding broken arrow pieces, in the final picture there about 200 arrows stuck in it. Most of the candy came through OK but there were a few candy bar kabobs.

I just never get tired of seeing that pin cushion, and more importantly I can't believe I have to wait another year to get some of Daniel O's chili.

Daniel will have another batch of Double Black Chili for the Friday Night Chili Contest at Compton next month.  He will be sporting his Purple Champion's apron and displaying his fine trophy as well to let the judges know what they are dealing with...

I guess I just will have to try an weasle a bowl of "double black" chili from the young "O" at Comptons, and make a point to do this shoot next year.
I REALLY need to have some fun one of theses days.

Thanks for posting this Mike, Fun Stuff.

The hosting club, "Land O' Lakes", is my club. I am now back in my home state of Missouri, but am still a memeber of Land O' Lakes.  I look at the photos and am reminded of how much I love that place.  My church, friends, and the club, Michigan.  Life goes on, we make choices, new friends, new church, but I miss that club.  LF
