I use white crown dip, white nocks and white or chartreuse feathers.  When I used to compete fairly seriously, it was standard procedure to rotate shooters. Then, I always carried a couple of arrows, stained charcoal and brown, with like colored nocks and fletching and no crown dip for when it was my turn to shoot first.  As Greg suggests above, didn't want to provide a highly defined spot/target for others to shoot at. Mine were always in the heart, of course.   :bigsmyl:

White wrap with blue feathers. There is nothing blue in the woods. When you miss they are easy to find.

Easy...I use some shade of yellow for everything.
I let the good guys go first, then shoot at their arrows.

I like white or pink. I only use pink if I am going to be in an area with snow though.

I'm glad I'm not the only guy that shoots Trueflight flaming pink feathers  :)

I shoot a 4 fletch, with a dayglow yellow wrap.  Hunting and 3D.  I used to really like some white on an arrow to read a pass thru for hunting.  But I've dumped the string on enough game that I usually know where the shot went, and pink fletching (even in low light) is like watching a tracer round going away from you.

I use blue barred fletching for 3D.  Blue feathers are pretty easy to locate in the grass, because there are very few true blue colors that naturally occur in the woods, but at the same time, they are dark enough to not stand out too obviously against the target animals.  In my experience, I see the nock color much more than the fletching.  If I want to see the nock, I use white.  To go stealthy, I use a black nock.

I prefer white caps w/white hen and red cock feather. My buddy prefers natural wood shafts w/ black and white feathers. My wife loves white caps w/pink and red feathers. Really , it's all about your own personal preferences!  :archer2:

Questions like this always seem odd to me.
Scenario 1: The first arrow has hit the target, I don't need to make a second shot so it doesn't matter if I can see the arrow clearly.

Scenario 2: I've missed the target and the shoot rules allow me to take a second shot for 1/2 score. I still don't need to see the first arrow.

Scenario 3: Now, where did those missed arrows go? This is the only time I really need to see the arrow. If I think I'm going to be missing a lot then a bright color would be a good idea.

Shooting at a real animal, yeah, bright colors aren't a bad idea so it's easy to see where the hit is and have an idea on its lethality. But a 3D target? Just wait until you walk up to it.
On the other hand... maybe I'm just having a grouchy Saturday.

I fletched up some all black feathers and nocks on black arrows once. My plan was to keep my buddies from shooting at my arrows. The reality was without seeing the arrow in flight and the positive reinforcment of the arrow stuck in the kill my scores went down. My buddies smelling weakness had a great day. That plan backfired badly.  :banghead:

I used flour orange at Whittingham a couple weeks ago and never had any trouble finding any of them.

all white so you can see the arrow in flight, when shooting instinctivly, lets your mind train itself so you can know where your arrow is going without thinking like throwing a ball. you know you can make that shoot over or under that branch or rock.

Guy, since this is a 3-D and not hunting question I'll address the 3-D aspect. It's good to see the arrow fly and the resulting hit on a foam animal at various unknown distances so you can learn from your mistakes and make corrections for the next shot whether it be the same target or the next target. Most 3-D shooters I know have the brightest fletching available. One friend showed up with black carbon shafts, natural barred turkey feathers, black nocks, good looking arrows but he shot them one time and never brought them back.

reddogge, thanks for the input.
I'm going to have to assume that it's difficult to see the arrow in some 3D situations. All the shoots I've been to in my area seem to have pretty good visibility. At least, I haven't had any trouble figuring out where my shot went so I can determine a correction for a follow up shot.
