I'm glad you're ok. I broke a very nice Dye recurve once...only a handful of hours after it arrived. It is sickening! Rifle shooters have something called the Order of the Scarlet Crescent...named for having one's eye too close to the scope. Perhaps we bowhunters need an Order of the Friggin' Disaster, or something, to commemorate our bow fractures!?!

Thanks for the condolences, folks.
I draw 28", maybe a little less. That's right, lots more bows out there. I hate doing it to an old one, though. I wanted one of these since an article in TradBow mag. Bought it off the classifieds here.
Bill is going to make me a new Zipper, so the healing will be quick, I'm sure.

I've recently seen quite a few of them on the auction site. Shot my first deer with one of them back in 1966. Glad you are not hurt. You still have plenty of time to find a new one before hunting season.

I might do that Pon. I've been wondering what to do with the pieces. Or...
Maybe a big bon type fire, have a bit of a cremation. Looking at it everyday might be tough knowing I can't shoot it any more.

Man that is definetly a bummer.  Saw it happen one time and I don't know how the guy didn't get his eyes ripped out.  Glad you are ok.  Mourn for awhile, but there are more bows out there.

I know how you feel. My longbows limb snapped at full draw last summer.  that bow was  a real shooter. builder ended up building me another though 2" shorter and 5# heavier.

I never want to experience that again though.

Glad your OK. Sorry for your loss. I would use that riser to make something. It would look good as a base for a lamp.

I am a 1967 Left Handed model, also, and my limbs are getting a little brittle, too!

Had a shoulder dislocation over spring break this year playing street hockey with the boys.

Too bad that rest, ibuprophen and rehab doesn't work on bows.

Good luck finding its replacement.
I started shooting a longbow because I thought it would simplify things and it did... now I simply need to get a whole lot closer to hit anything.

Work'n when I have to, fish'n when I can...
