« on: May 22, 2012, 02:28:00 PM »
I'm wanting to get a few wood arrows to try since seeing all of thoes beauties in the woody love thred.

Has anyone tried the hunter arrows from 3rivers?  How about their test kit?

I have a few left from a while back before I started making them myself. They are still straight and I never had any problems with them besides shooting trees or whatever...  :banghead:

They're at least 10-12 years old, though...

They won't be weight matched.

I got a few that weren't straight and I agree that they Aren't weight matched. If I were you and you were planning on hunting big game with them I'd put out the money and get better custom arrows. also I noticed some of mine were more brittle and would splinter and break if I hit a tree or rock while squirrel and rabbit hunting
Now then, get your weapons, your quiver and your bow and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me.- Genesis 27:3

Not weight matched, not straightened, not cut to length, no tips included.
You can do a lot better.

Thanks for the input.

I thought they might be a decent "starter" arrow for someone who doesn't have any experience with wood.

Recommendations?

Are you wanting to try woodies for the first time to see if you might like them?  I'm just across the river from you in Irmo and I have a ton of them in the neighborhood of 60-65 lbs at about 29-291/2 inches.  If you have a bow around 60ish lbs, you're welcome to try mine first.
....and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Matt 28:20

D From PX and Roger Norris hit the nail on the head. You can do a lot better by searching out a TG Sponsor here and they will work WITH YOU.

They use to be cheap but not the case now, although they are also a sponsor here I would look around at some other choices before you commit to anything. For a mere $20 more you could order some top shelf arrows from Ron La Clair.
