« on: May 27, 2012, 04:48:00 PM »
Well my trad journey began with a Pearson cougar but then I quickly changed to a rd long now but yest I picked up the ok cougar again and it's something about that recurve feeling, I think I'm converting over to the dark side , help

There is no dark side here.  Recurves are great. So are R/D longbows, I am going to sell a recurve I shoot great because I am going back to an R/D.  Love hooting both.  Never saw Papa Bear with a longbow.  Shoot what you like and enjoy it.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I agree with maineac, theres no dark side here. Im a longbow junkie, and own  several great customs, but there are times when i am drawn to go afield with one of my old classic garage sale recurves . Recurve or longbow makes no difference, as long as you shoot it well and enjoy it. One of my hobbies is getting the old recurves and refurbishing them and putting them back in the field. If your concerned about your image going afield with the old Cougar, dont!, they shoot great, and  theres nothing like shooting  a piece of our archery history. Heres one of my favorites, an old American Archery Cheetah, after repairing a cracked riser, and putting on new limb tip overlays, shes on the prowl again. Longbow ,recurve, new or old, shoot them all and have fun.

You could also go with one that has the best of both worlds (like I'll be getting shortly)a Big Foot Sasquatch,or something similiar. I've shot and used both, and enjoy the attributes of both. Heck, I even like selfbows, although I've never owned one. It's all good!  :archer:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

RH Cougar was my first recurve way back in the late 60's. Great memories with that one.

Some days I like to shoot the R/D LB and some days I like to shoot the recurve, and then some days I'll shoot a LB in the morning and the recurve in the afternoon. Don't matter, they all shoot good and are fun.

It's trad archery partner! There is no dark side! Forrest Halley has a real short Whisperstick recurve that shoots a heavy arrow like a rocket! We just spent the better part of 2 days murdering stumps! No worries.
