Sorry to hear of your loss Steve. It sounds like you will have many memories and stories to pass on about him. The greatest legacy we leave are the values and memories passed to our children.

My Dad passed in 1996 at age 62 - 2 months before retiring from the RR. So many things remind me of him. When I hear a squirrel barking I recall trying to walk in his footsteps as a pre-teen without making noise in the woods. I learned when he passed that he kept newspaper clippings in his wallet about some of my track and professional accomplishments.

So often these past 17 years I've wanted to pick up the phone and share some wild adventure...

I miss him right now.

I can't express in words my thanks to all my friends here, the support, the friendship and comaraderie is found nowhere else.My Dad would have loved today at our house, everyone making plans and going over all for the upcoming hunting seasons.its the seed he planted in all of us.Dad was a riflehunter first and foremost ,but throughout the years my love for Trad archery dad really took a shine to it .He hunted with me and helped me build recurves in our shop. His enthusiasm and wisdom was always there for me.

So sorry for your loss. I have the same feelings about my father as he was my best hunting buddy until the day he went home. The only thing I can tell you is to pass along to someone else the same joys he gave to you so that someone will feel the same way about you when it is your time to go. God bless.

My condolences brother.
It is a hard road to walk... one we must all face. It really puts our own short time here into perspective.  You will carry an unfillable void the remainder of your days until which time you are reuinited.
You and he were blessed, unlike many, to have that special friendship and kinship.  He will never forget you and will be there with you on each hunt... as I'm sure you will be for him.
Prayers and blessings,
Rick

I am truly sorry for your loss, but happy for you that you got to spend many more years with your father than most get to.  Relish your memories.

Steve,
My prayers go out tonight for you and your family. May the Lord comfort you in his love and the deep memories you have for your loving Dad. I lost my father on March 28. He was to be 79 on April 11th. I'm thankful for every moment we spent together as I'm sure you feel about your own Dad. He lives in you now.
